Working in Our Greenhouse
Working at Win Gardens Greenhouse is busy and seasonal. The cycle starts in early spring and builds until the season peaks in July. After that, the focus shifts to mums and poinsettias, followed by a slower January, and then it all begins again. It’s steady, rhythmic work that changes with the calendar.
Greenhouse work means being part of the entire growing process, not just one small task. That’s what makes it rewarding. You experience the chaos and energy of planting, the patience and attention required for pruning, and finally the push of pulling orders and shipping everything out the door. You can actually see the results of your effort, which is something a lot of jobs don’t offer.
At Win Gardens, we grow plants across about one acre of covered greenhouse space, including vertical growing areas for hanging baskets. From the first seed, plug, or cutting to the moment an order leaves the greenhouse, our team is hands-on every step of the way.
From Seed to Order Day
If you work at Win Gardens, you get to see the full process. We start with seeds, unrooted cuttings or plugs. Then we spend hours planting on the line, listening to music and getting to know each other. Finally, the team moves plants out into the greenhouse where they have room to grow. As the season goes on, we space them, shape them, and keep them healthy. When order time comes, we’re the ones picking them up and sending them out the door.
It’s Hot. It’s Physical. It’s Fun!
Let’s be honest. Greenhouses get hot, and the work is physical. You’re lifting, bending, moving, and on your feet. But the days go fast, you stay busy, and you can see what you’ve accomplished by the end of a shift.
Our shifts are intentionally short to prevent burnout. We work hard while we’re here, then we get out. Most people leave feeling tired in a good way.
A Team That Has Each Other’s Backs
This is a student and entry-level friendly environment where people help each other and have fun. If someone needs an extra set of hands, someone else steps in. We look out for each other because that’s one of the biggest benefits of being part of a small company. Everyone matters, and no one gets lost in the shuffle.
We really believe that when the tide rises, all ships rise. When one person succeeds, it makes the whole team better.
Why People Enjoy Win Gardens
People who like greenhouse work usually say the same things. They like learning by doing. They like being active. They like working toward something they can actually see. They enjoy plants. They like working for a small, local business.
It’s not for everyone, but for the right person, it’s a solid, rewarding way to spend a season.
